I believe that second life to me has transformed from an outragous virtual world to almost a real life world in the computer. When we watched the video about people who actually live through the second life world I really thought that was so far fetched. However, for someone who has a hard time being social, in face to face manors, this is a great oppurtunity for them to be a social person. This could also lead to real life relationships, after all the comfort level would rise each time they logged into second life…then the real life meeting would go more smoothly for them. I really now believe that second life is appealing in the way that it will help those people whom choose to use, better their knowledge of places or things they may not be able to visit or experience in real life due to disablities,money, and etc. I would have to say it is very useful to visit locations which are so similar if not identical to the real life. Such as the virtual world of University of Cincinnati and even the re-creation of the tsunami. The Tsunami is most useful because it allows me to understand what happens when a tsunami hits, sure I do not live near a body of water but if I am ever visiting I will now know where to go and the results that may occur following such a disaster. This least useful and appealing thing is probably the flying cars which hit me while I was building in the Ivory Tower. As well as, I never saw or experienced I heard you can smoke in the SL world, that seems useless and meaningless. Also, I thought it was kind of stupid to buy outfits that are not tangeble in the real world. However, if someone wants to blow their real dollars transformed into linden dollars that is there business but, I would not do that. After this class, I will honestly probably not use the Second Life again…but I am very happy that I got to experience the new version of technology that is offered to us at such an easy and accessible level. The most exciting thing to me was being able to connect with a given organization to help them build their community for other to see. Although I really wish we could have had more time to build on their community,but cver all this was a great experience. I will most likely continue to use my weblog..I really like the way we can write an “online diary” for others to read and welcome their comments.

Here is a picture of my group and I at our community group on February 25th. My particular community is the Cincinnati Museum Center, we first visited the actual museum which was rather interesting but didn’t really contain a lot of fossils. They had some good, detailed models however, the second location we visited was the Cincinnati Museum Center branch which contained thousands of fossils, they had a lot of fossils that they were just beginning to investigate which was really interesting to see. This location had a lot more to offer us as far as the upclose detailed fossils. We had two group members who were so kind to take numerous photos of each fossil she showed us….we even got to touch some of them, which is something we weren’t able to do at the musuem! I learned a lot about the different types of fossils..including their different textures, locations, and ways the actual things we are going to create actually lived at one time. This was helpful because afterall we will be making these fossils come to life so it was very helpful to know their original colors and ways of life. My group and I definetly know what we need to conentrate on, we are in need of making a orenetion(not sure how to spell)oceanic model..This is something my community would really like to see come to life. We are pretty well prepared on what they want because we have a picture of this particular model..it is our job to make it come to life in the second life community.

Here is some of us who worked at the sandbox today! The people include Pheffernoose Nightfire, Fleep Tuque, SFS THree Aeon, and I. We all built our own object however, we are standing in front of an object in which Pheffornoose had built! This picture is part of my blog #3. However, I cannot include this picture with the blog so here is the other half of my Blog #3!

Here is me sitting on and around the objects in which I created at the sandbox. I went to the sandbox and looked at some various pictures in which my community posted and i created a box display which i just simply placed the textured photo upon. I then found another picture and posted upon another box! Then I thought I would be a little creative and made a shape of the actual shell fossil and textured it accordingly. I thought it was pretty interesting to work with others. I worked and built an object by myself but we all worked around one another and we will later collaborate all of our objects. I found it rather easy to work with others because we were all at the same point and could help one another as we went along. No we did not use chat or text because we were all in the lab together however, if we would have been doing it from different places I would have used the chat or text. Yes! My bloghud worked perfectly this time around there was hardly no delay or issues..every photo I took posted almost immediatl, where as the previous tutorial(Blog #2) took a long time and some photos were lost. THis time around blog hud was much easier to work with! Blog Assignment #1

I found this process very interesting, because it taught me about when these technology devices were released and it brought back a lot of childhood memories. In the evolution of technology I discovered how the hand held devices have grown smaller and lighter since the first hand held know as the game boy was released in 1989. Where in 2004 the Nintendo DS was released which is less weight and now offers cool covers in various colors and a number of other accessories, where the game boy was just a large gray device with 2 red buttons. I began to see just how many electronic game devices have been developed in my lifetime, there is a lot! I personally remember when the following were released; Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, X-Box, Playstation 1,2,and 3, Wii and the Nintendo DS. There are more however these are just the ones I explored in my technology innovation findings. My family owned the Nintendo 64 and it actually formed a better relationship between my brother in I because we actually played together in the same room for hours at a time. We have also owned all three of the Playstations…however there is not much of impact becauseI do not play but my brother only does in his spare time. When we were younger the video games was are means of playing on a rainy or cold day where now we are so consumed with work,school, and significant others that the video games are less involving in our lives. I feel that when I was a child we had quite a few video game devices however, I have noticed that now there are so many popular game devices such as PS3, Wii and the X-Box and they all have a tremendous amount of games to go with each. I feel the choices of games have increased from when I was a child. Technology could make a turn in any direction, before we know it I think we will all have some form of a video game device on our cell phones…I mean after all we already have games, tv, and internet on our cells. Why couldn’t we have mini PS3 games that insert into our phones.

Ivory tower tower object i created at the ivory tower!

I found the tutorial picture taking to be rather easy however, only one of my pictures was sent and posted to my wordpress so I am not sure where the other pictures have gone.

Yes, I learned a few simple tasks they were how to insert an object, expand it upward and how to sit on that object however, I was a little confused as to how to get more options such as moving my object against a wall because it is just kind of sitting the middle of the ivory tower..

I built a high piller to place something to be on display, this process was rather easy but, I need to learn how to place an object on top of that surface.

I would say it took me about 2 hours to complete this tutorial, but like I said above I took numerous pictures and built object but they later disappeared.

The tutorial was alright! I feel a little more experienced however, I still am confused about some specific details

Yes the blog hud worked for me however, it took a few hours for it to register!

I found the blog hud easy to work with however, I had to do it a few times in order for it work and everytime I did it the same way but only one was successful. The process was rather simple just the transfering process is where my question is.
